Key scriptures

Luke 4:18-21

“The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he has appointed me to preach good news to the poor.  He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners and recovery of sight to the blind, to release the oppressed, to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favour.”  Then he rolled up the scroll, gave it back to the attendant and sat down.  The eyes of everyone in the synagogue were fastened on him and he began by saying to them, “Today this scripture is fulfilled in your hearing.”

Matthew 28:18-20

Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me.   Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you.   And surely I am with you to the very end of the age”

Defining Values

We see to:-

  1. Glorify God, revealed through Jesus Christ, relying upon the empowering of the Holy Spirit. Proclaim, teach and submit to the Word of God, believing the Bible remains the supreme authority for faith and life.
  2. Pray that the Holy Spirit will build a growing Christian Community through worship, fellowship and compassionate service in the world.

Expectations of people who belong to Windsor Community Church

We accept that this congregation will always be an imperfect reflection of the church as the Body of Christ.   Nevertheless we expect to be a congregation who:

  1. Long to spend time with God, in Worship, Bible study and Prayer, individually, in small groups and as a congregation.
  2. Prays and shares its faith with people so that they will turn to Jesus in faith and repentance.
  3. Is committed to accept, encourage, correct and support one another.
  4. Promotes a culture of generosity providing hope and grace.
  5. Seeks to develop networks with other congregations for mission.
  6. Reflects the light of Jesus, and the living water of the Holy Spirit, to the City of Invercargill and the Nation of New Zealand.
