Hi my name is Lynne Taylor, I am the Pastor for children and families here at Windsor. It was through children’s ministry
that my love for God came about. I first started with children’s ministry in my late teens and have continued in some
shape or form since - being involved with Sunday Schools, youth groups, children camps, Scripture in school and women's
ministry. My husband Mark and I have raised three children who are now making their own way in the world. My love for
God is still fervent and I know the importance of passing this love for God to the next generation.
There is quite a lot happening for children at Windsor Community Church, so to begin with:
Children’s Church starts with our 10.00am morning service. As a congregation we all come together; normally after singing
one song children are called to the front to have a little talk with the minister. He asks how their week has been, and
if anyone has had a birthday (as we have a gift box they can choose a gift from) then a prayer is said over the children,
and then they all exit out to go to the children’s church room. Once there they are welcomed and have a game. After the
game the under fives head to another room, and the over fives stay put. We have games, stories, craft, memory verses
and lots of fun.
All new children are given a welcome pack to let them know who we are and what room to go to.
We run a Holiday programme first and third term of the year. Always the second week of the school holidays, Monday to Thursday 9am to 12noon. On
the Friday we have a Family night, it could be a movie night or something that ties in with the holiday programme.
We run Mainly Music
10am - 12noon. This group is for mums or dads or care person with children under five. Starting with half an hour dance
and movement followed by a hot drink and something to eat. Also this time is to catch up with other parents living in
this area. There is a cost of $4 per family each session, but first timers are free.
We also have books for parents, these are just a few:
- Parenting isn’t for Cowards – Ian Grant.
- Growing Great Boys – Ian Grant
- Where does a mother go to Resign – Dr James Dobson.
- Boundaries at Home – Cloud/Townsend.
